"HOLEY BATMAN" SCARF

I picked up this yarn and a free pattern for the "Holey Batman" scarf  at a great knitting store called Loops.  We were in Tulsa visiting my family and since my mother is a knitter too, we had to go.

We made a stop at the library first and checked out about 30 pounds of picture books.  Taking 4 children into a knitting store required some preplanning.  The books worked well, as did the promise of a treat for good behavior.  Half way through our visit the staff showed us a playroom in the back that was more than a basket of worn out toys tucked into a corner.  This was an actual room with french doors, an art table, a cute kitchen set, and some trucks and trains.  "Oh thank you!" I said with gleaming eyes.  (More time to browse without the rising panic that the kids are beginning to unravel!)

I've already packed it all up for our upcoming move or I'd tell you the name of the yarn.  It was wool (with just a little nylon I think) and lovely to work with.  I loved the variegated  shades of blues and grays. The finished scarf is long enough to double up and loop around the neck.  This is just the kind of fun and easy project I needed this season and I can't wait to wear it in Colorado this fall.
P.S.  We loved the store so much that we filmed our movie there.  Thanks Loops!

Another P.S.  I posted about the Keep Calm and Carry On mugs back in February.  Well I just found these knitting project bags  that are along the same lines.

FELT CRAFTING

Ellie received this fun book for Christmas and it is right up her alley.  We found the time over the weekend to pick up some supplies.  Here is the project my little artist has started.
The green background will be sewn up into a pillow.  The bunnies are waiting to get their clothing stitched on and she wants to make a little yellow sun above.

Felt is such a fun and easy project for children (mamas too!)

CREATION

To create: To cause to exist or bring into being.  To give rise to.  To produce through artistic or imaginative effort.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth..."  Genesis 1:1
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female." Genesis 1:27
Is there any wonder that we feel the need to create?  To make, build and produce?  We are like our Father.
So my list continues... today I am giving thanks for the ability to create.

5.  for the work of little messy fingers
6.  for the concentration on little faces
7.  for the creation of smiles and constructions
8.  for the ability to create and enjoy music
9.  for the warmth and aroma created in a kitchen
10.  the color choices... not just 1 shade of blue but a multitude
11. the thrill of seeing it all come together
12.  the vastness of Creation

Thank you Lord for creating in us a desire to follow in your footsteps; to create beauty, to make something on a blank page, to create change, to create memories.

KNITTING PROJECT

I finished the vest!  I can't get him to wear a sweater but he will humor me with a vest.

I love knitting.  It feels good working with beautiful yarns and it is a portable craft.  As my mom says "Always take your knitting."  She has been known to knit a few rows while waiting at a traffic light.
These days it's almost easier to knit in the car.  The new puppy has cut into my nightly knitting schedule!

My next project: a hat for myself  with some super soft, pale blue yarn.

HAPPY KNITTING!
